Baby Scale
This Salter Baby Scale is an instrument used to weigh babies and small children in nutrition and feeding programs. Designed as a sling, the child is undressed and placed upright in the trouser, which is suspended from a hook on the bottom of the scale. The trouser can be interchanged with a hammock so babies and sick children can be weighed while lying down.
This basic but effective design is ideal for remote field settings. The scale is lightweight and can even be suspended from a broom handle held by two people. These scales are widely used at MSF health centres, at feeding centres and during nutritional surveys.
