Measles Vaccine

Vaccinates 750 Children

Measles Vaccine

Potentially debilitating, deadly and highly contagious, measles is especially dangerous in displacement camps and crowded impoverished areas. Measles mostly strikes children under the age of five. Symptoms can include fever, skin rash that can lead to complications like ear infections, pneumonia and impaired mental development. In many areas where MSF works, children do not routinely receive vaccinations for measles.

Measles vaccinations are a key part of MSF’s preventive health measures for children. The vaccine itself is inexpensive and effective for 85% of children who receive it. Measles vaccination campaigns are often carried out for hundreds or thousands of children at once as a preventive health measure.
